Though he is not exactly a household name yet in the U.S., Daniel Tammet is known worldwide for his prodigious brain power. He is, to say the least, one of the foremost examples of unlocking brain potential.
Tammet is considered one of the world's most astounding savants. Diagnosed with a form of autism, he looks and talks just like anyone else – except that he cannot tell right from left or legally drive a car.
However, all deficits aside, what Tammet can do when put to the test is extraordinary.
His mind has been his keys to success in life, and it's easy to see why. Tammet can multiply two large numbers – like 377 and 795 – in his head instantly, according to the UK Guardian. He has successfully memorized the irrational number pi to more than 22,500 decimal places, rankling him sixth in the world at this special feat.
Perhaps most impressive of all, for a recent documentary he learned to fluently speak Icelandic, a language widely considered one of the world's most difficult and non-intuitive tongues. Tammet did so in just one week.
Author and flutist Ilchi Lee emphasizes that people like Tammet are illustrations of the amazing brain potential inherent in us all. It's there for the taking, if only we are willing to take the time to unlock our brains.
